Sarasota has an amazing homeschool community. We’re making it easier to find.
There are classes to take, places to explore, people to meet, events to attend, and so many ways to learn around Sarasota. The problem? Finding all of it can take a lot of searching.
Schooling Around was created to bring what's happening in Sarasota’s homeschool community together in one easy-to-use place—so families can spend less time searching and more time doing.
How Schooling Around Started
The idea for Schooling Around started in 2026 in Sarasota, Florida.
Before making the decision to homeschool, we frequently heard from other homeschool families about the amazing homeschool community in the Sarasota area. Once we made the plunge into homeschooling ourselves, we discovered they were right. There were amazing activities and experiences all around us—but we often found them completely by chance.
A recommendation from another parent. A post buried in a Facebook group. An upcoming event mentioned by a mom after a theater rehearsal. A business we had driven past dozens of times without realizing it offered something for homeschoolers.
The more we found, the more obvious the question became:
How much else is out there that we just don't know about?
Schooling Around grew from that question—and from a desire to make it easier for homeschool families to discover everything this community has to offer.
Because the amazing homeschool community we'd heard so much about was already here. Educators were teaching. Businesses were creating programs and experiences. Groups and organizations were bringing families together. There were opportunities all around us—but it took a bit of digging and a bit of luck to find them.
Schooling Around brings these opportunities together in one place, helping families discover and connect with what's already happening around them.
And as the idea grew, so did Schooling Around. What began as a way to find local homeschool experiences expanded to include events, homeschool resources, Florida scholarship information, student and educator ID cards, planning tools, perks, and other helpful features for homeschool families—with new ways for local educators, businesses, and organizations to connect with the homeschool community, too.
What You’ll Find Here
Schooling Around brings together local homeschool classes, activities, and events, educational experiences, homeschool resources, Florida scholarship information, student and educator ID cards, planning tools, perks, and other useful finds for families learning beyond the classroom.
Use the discovery tools to find local homeschool experiences that fit your family's schedule, interests, and needs. Search for something to do. Find a new class. Discover a place you didn't know offered homeschool programming. Find resources that make homeschooling a little easier. Or simply see what's happening around town for your next homeschool adventure!
As Schooling Around grows, so will the ways families can save, organize, and plan the things they discover.
Our Mission
Schooling Around’s mission is to make learning beyond the classroom easier by connecting homeschool families with local homeschool experiences, resources, and providers that support their educational journey.
Because learning doesn't only happen at a desk—and finding something great to explore shouldn't require searching all over town and all over the internet.
For Businesses & Educators
Schooling Around is built for the people creating these opportunities, too.
Local educators, businesses, organizations, groups, and activity providers are an important part of our homeschool community. We want to help families discover what you're already doing—and help you reach families who are actively looking for places to learn, explore, create, and connect.
Know something we should know? Tell us about a class, event, resource, business, or hidden gem that belongs on Schooling Around.
Starting in Sarasota. Built to Go Places.
Schooling Around is starting in the greater Sarasota homeschool community because this is home—and because we've seen firsthand just how much there is to learn and discover here.
But we don't think Sarasota is the only community where families are searching.
Someday, we'd love to help make learning beyond the classroom easier to discover in communities well beyond our own.
